How To Treat Coronavirus at Home Using Onions, Garlic and Ginger





Covid-19 is an air borne disease, an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered Coronavirus. This severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (Sar-Cov2) is mainly transmitted through droplets generated when an infected person coughs, salivates, sneezes or exhales.

The most common symptoms are fever, dry cough, tiredness, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. Some poeple may experience aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat, diarrhoea. In more severe cases infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome and even death.

It takes up to 5 to 6 days from when someone is infected  with the virus for symptoms to show, however it can take up to 14 days.

Currently, there is no special medication or vaccine that has been produced to cure it,  but the symptoms associated with this virus have been treated and well managed.




The use of onions, garlic and ginger can be effective in the treatment of Covid-19 because these herbal foods possess anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidants properties that are used in the treatment associated with covid-19 symptoms. These herbals have been used to treat various sicknesses since ages and have been proven to be effective.

Onions contain an active ingredient called allicin, an organosulfur compound which is responsible for their antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral properties. Onions are used as remedy for coughs, colds and catarrh especially asthma. Onions also improve red blood cell functions.

Garlic also have allicin which stimulate the immune system and make it easier for the body to fend off and fight disease. Garlic has been recommended heavily for the treatment of the common cold, upper respiratory tract infections and bronchitis for its ability to relieve congestion.

Onions and garlic have high polyphenols, especially the flavonoid called quercetin, an antioxidants that reduces cell damage by neutralizing free radicals.

Quercetin also has anti-inflammatory properties which supports the heart health, low cholesterol, and the prevention of cancer.

Both onions and garlic are said to be anticoagulants, which means that they thin the blood to prevent heart attacks and strokes.

Ginger has been shown to have impressive antiviral activity due to its high concentration of potent plant compounds. Ginger such as gingerols and zingerone, have been found to inhibit viral replication and prevent viruses from entering host cells.

Ginger is primarily used to treat nausea, but is also used as an anti-inflammatory, a pain remedy herb. Ginger also helps to fight the flu and common cold.

Gingerol is the main bioactive compound in ginger responsible for much of its medicinal properties. It has powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.

These three herbal foods are extremely powerful in their ability to protect and heal, but its important to understand that they are best consumed raw to get their full benefits. The mixture of onion,  garlic and ginger with water or honey can be used to suppress coronavirus.
